International fairy day

Wow what a magical day the fairy, pirate and wizard day was. Thank goodness for the super heros that came today as well. We started the day off with a pirate game which was enjoyed by all.  Next up we got to choose between making a pirate hat or a fairy wand with added sprinkles of fairy dust.  Of course a treasure map was in order so we went for a walk around our school for ideas to put into our map. We then drew them and painted over them with tea and coffee (for an authentic look). No magical day is complete with out a treasure hunt so we also participated in this too. Whilst we were outside some fairys came to visit leaving us some very yummy fairy bread. Thank you fairys.

Ronald McDonald

On Wednesday Ronald McDonald visited us at Western Heights to educate us on the importance of road safety. With his huge red shoes and missing red and white stripy sock we learnt how to cross a road safely. We all now know Stop, Look and Listen before you cross the road and remember click goes the seat belt click, click, click.

Gymnastics trip

Today the year one children went to the Waitakere gymnasium to try out an assortment of activities. The bus ride was an adventure in itself with very excitable children on board. Once arriving at the gym all hands were on board to support and watch each team as they experienced all of the activities. It was great to see children who were nervous about attempting new experiences, to give it a go and then come up smiling. Room 1 deceided their favourite activity was swinging into a pit of foam. Once the children had had all the fun, of course came the time for the teachers and amazing parent helpers to also get to have a bit of fun too. Mrs Taylor was seen on most activities and (quietly) looked quite professional on the bars. After our gym experience it was back on the bus with some of us taking time out to have a little nap. Before we knew it we were back at school and very happy to eat our lunch and show off our new found skills on the playground.   Look below to see all the awesome room 1 children having a wonderful fun packed gymnastics experience.

A huge thank you to our lovely parent helpers.
